202400026 Description The primary functions of this tenure-track faculty position are to teach courses in GCSC’s Computer Science programs (Cybersecurity, Network Systems, Software and Database Development, and Technology Management), align curriculum with industry standards and state frameworks, and advise students. This position is sensitive and will require a criminal background check. Notice of E ‘verify participation. Examples of Duties Pursuant to Manual of Policy 6.017, this is a full-time instructional position requiring a minimum of 35 hours professional service to include a teaching load of 15 credit hours, 10 posted office hours, and up to 10 additional hours each week for position responsibilities, internal service to the college, community service, and leadership responsibilities.
Design, update, revise, and maintain curriculum, including course design and labs, when applicable, for face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning modalities.
Provide academic advising guidance to students regarding course selection, scheduling, and degree completion/graduation requirements.
Office hours are spent helping students with lecture material and lab work outside of class and returning emails and phone calls.
Ensure program alignment and compliance with FLDOE curriculum frameworks, GCSC Strategic Plan, and college policies.
Work with other faculty members to coordinate, evaluate, and recommend program updates and changes. Identify and mentor adjunct instructors.
Coordinate with other faculty to develop course schedules for each semester.
Recruit students into the program.
Develop partnerships with local agencies pertinent to programs.
Attend professional development training, workshops, and seminars.
Maintain memberships/participate in professional organizations to stay abreast of best practices within the field.
OTHER DUTIES
As Assigned Typical Qualifications A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer/Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, or Cybersecurity from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Alternatively, candidates with a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, with eighteen graduate hours in related coursework or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field combined with substantial professional experience are also encouraged to apply. Current industry certifications from CompTIA, ISC2, Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat, Oracle, and EC-Council are desirable. Supplemental Information WORK
