The Department of Medicine, Division of Transplant Pulmonary has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Professor of Clinical. The UMMG Faculty Physician – Transplant Pulmonology provides medical care to patients based on proper documentation in the medical record as outlined by the medical staff rules and regulations. The incumbent in this position receives patient assignments based on their educational discipline, expertise, or experience. Physician will work with the other transplant pulmonologists and critical care physicians in the Division of Pulmonology with responsibilities including providing direct patient care to adult outpatients at the Miami Transplant Institute faculty practice (including satellite clinics) and adult inpatients at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Hospital. Will also be involved with undergraduate and graduate medical education.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Direct outpatient care to adult patients, including pre- and post-transplant patients. Direct inpatient care to adult patients, including pre- and post-transplant patients. Attendance at multidisciplinary transplant conferences and rounds Develops and carries out a comprehensive medical treatment plan addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains. Performs physical assessment of patients in a logical and respectful manner. Prescribes medical treatment and clinical medications to patients. Gathers essential and accurate information through the review of pertinent records and interviews with the patient, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals. Assumes responsibility for increasing knowledge and expertise by attending continuing educational offerings. Makes informed decisions about interventions based on patient information and preference, up-to-date scientific evidence in the field, and clinical judgment. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations. Collaborate with all multidisciplinary service lines to help in the care of these patients both pre- and post-transplant; including co-chairing weekly Multidisciplinary Pre-Transplant Selection Committee meetings where candidacy of new Lung transplant referrals are reviewed and accepted or declined for listing. Committee meetings and participate in process improvement plans. Analyze outcomes and trends in data analysis to determine appropriate performance metrics. Assist in data collection, analysis, trending and interpretation of data Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

M.D. or D.O. from an ABIM recognized internal medicine residency Valid ABIM Certification in

Pulmonology Certification and Licensing:

Valid and unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligible to apply

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience Specialized training in transplant pulmonology after fellowship highly desired. Experience working and teaching in academic setting highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Excellent clinical knowledge and experience, especially in transplant pulmonology, to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with staff, patients, and family members. Demonstrate the ability to meet responsibilities of the position. Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
