QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The minimum qualifications and skill requirements for this position include: A Master’s degree in Philosophy (a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Philosophy) from an accredited institution;
Proven knowledge of and experience in teaching Philosophy at the undergraduate level;
Ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of students from a culturally diverse student population;
Willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
Computer literacy and experience using computers in the classroom;
Willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to the teaching of Philosophy; The following is preferred: Two to five years of teaching experience in a college or post-secondary institution;
Research and publication useful to classroom instruction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Preparing, instructing, and grading all class coursework;
Assigning final grades;
Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to teaching a minimum of 36 semester hours annually; Preparing a syllabus for each course; Instructing assigned classes; Grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments; Assigning final grades; Assisting in the preparation and in course planning and development as requested; Appropriately integrating computer software and technology-based instruction; Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment; Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
