Job Summary The faculty employee is expected to instruct academic courses, online and face-to-face, and support the department, college and university goals by supporting the academic environment to benefit the educational mission of the University. The faculty employee is expected to contribute to the department’s educational mission. Successful candidates will be expected to instruct students in the respective disciplines. The faculty employee is expected to have:
1. understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning.
2. strong communication skills and successful teaching experience.
3. a developing research agenda. Responsibilities Faculty
- Teaching/Instructing
- Teaching Responsibilities
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline: teaching a 4-4 course load each fall and spring semester.
- Regular program meetings and instruction
- While some courses are online, this is an on-campus position. Faculty are to establish and maintain an on-campus presence.
- Mentoring Students
- Other teaching responsibilities Faculty will demonstrate the knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
Faculty responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in Reading/Literacy, engaging in scholarly activities, and providing service to the program, department, university, profession, and community. Faculty employees may also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y), or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey. Faculty

D. Minimum 18 Graduate Semester hours in the Academic discipline being taught.
(Reading, Language, Literacy, or a related field). Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in

Advise and supervise graduate students in Reading/Literacy coursework, collect program data for university, state, and national compliance, and facilitate program recruitment. Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years of teaching within PK-12 grade settings. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications
Experience and prior coursework in one or more of the following related fields is desirable: Foundations of Reading, Literacy, and Language across grade levels, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and/or Disciplinary Literacy and Reading for students with dyslexia or learning disabilities, especially in grades 6
- 12.
Preferred Experience
