Department Information The Department of Psychology and Criminal Justice includes programs that are designed to produce scientifically analytic, critical thinkers prepared to succeed in meeting the challenges of modern life. We emphasize career preparation in the behavioral sciences through lifelong learning. The Department offers an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and a Doctorate in Public Safety. Job Summary This position is for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice (open areas of specialization within CRJU). Successful applicants will teach various courses within the A.S. and B.S. programs in Criminal Justice, as well as opportunities for teaching in the Doctorate in Public Safety. The standard teaching load at MGA is a 4/4 course load. The position also involves expectations for university service, student mentoring, supervising student research, and scholarship. Travel among our campuses is expected. This is a ten (10
- month faculty position, with the option to teach Summer courses.
Regular on campus presence is also required for the position. Teaching responsibilities will include online courses and may include face to face. Responsibilities Teach a workload of a variety of four courses per Fall and Spring semester, in courses for the
A.S./B.S.
programs in Criminal Justice, with opportunities to teach in the Doctorate in Public Safety also. Serve on committees for the university, school, and department. Mentor students. Scholarship and research activities. Actively pursue continuous improvement in teaching. Actively engage in activities aimed at improving student success. Be present on campus regularly/weekly. Required Qualifications Required Educational Qualifications Doctorate in Criminal Justice (or closely related field) from a regionally accredited university (or international equivalent). ABD considered as long as conferred by August 2026. Required Experience Experience in a university setting. Experience that warrants a tenure-track appointment. Experience teaching related courses at the college-level. Experience with online course delivery will be a plus. Required Documents to Attach Letter of interest, including your teaching philosophy. Curriculum vitae. Unofficial Academic Transcripts (all undergraduate and graduate). Research Statement, including description of any experience supervising student research. Name and contact information for three professional references.
