RESPONSIBILITIES
Position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Analog Photography, Digital Photography, Graphic Design, and 4D Time-Based Media, and foundations. This position will have a primary focus as a photographer, with the flexibility to contribute their skills and experience to various forms of visual communication and new media. Other courses based on qualifications may also be assigned. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels. Be Position will manage facilities and resources, mentor students, and participate in curricular and program development. This individual will participate in student scholarship fundraising activities as part of their service responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
MFA with a focus on Photography, Graphic Design, and/or 4D Time-Based Media.
Expertise in traditional and contemporary concepts, principles, and practices with particular focus on future trends as they relate to user experiences in digital realms of visual communication and photography.
Experience in operating and overseeing photography facilities, including but not limited to, maintenance of analog darkroom and digital graphic design and photo labs, executing budgets, managing equipment and supplies.
Commitment to providing a safe, positive, and inclusive studio culture.
Supporting our students in their pursuit of research, making, and discovery of art through a practice of openness, belonging and mutual respect.
Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications:
A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage.
Experience teaching beyond graduate level in areas of photography and/or design.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
A record of mentoring students.
An individual who demonstrates the ability to bridge and blend visual communication and photography through areas of coursework related to graphic design, commercial photography, time-based media, digital video, AR/VR, data visualization, UX/UI, animation.
The ability to emphasize the importance of visual narratives across multiple platforms through the utilization of photography, video, text, and design.
Commercial experience in graphic design and photography industries.
