Position:
Assistant/Associate Professor of English:
Brewton-Parker College is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our faculty as a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor of English. This position offers an exciting opportunity to teach and mentor students in the field of English, helping them develop critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills essential for success in a variety of careers. The successful candidate will teach on-site at our main campus in Mount Vernon, Georgia, and will play a key role in shaping the English program. This position requires a commitment to academic excellence, student engagement, and Brewton-Parker’s mission of providing Christ-centered education.
Responsibilities:
Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in English, including but not limited to:
Composition and Rhetoric, British and American Literature, Creative Writing, Literary Theory and Criticism, World Literature
Develop and deliver engaging, thought-provoking learning experiences that align with program goals and academic standards.
Advise and mentor students in their academic and career pursuits.
Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.
Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary learning and program growth.
Engage in scholarly activities, professional development, and service to the college and community.
Qualifications:
(Required) Master’s degree in English, Literature, Rhetoric, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English or a relevant field.
Experience teaching at the college level.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to integrating faith and learning in the classroom. (Preferred) Doctorate (Ph.D.) in English, Literature, or a related field.
Experience in curriculum development and program coordination.
Familiarity with diverse literary traditions and perspectives.
Experience working with diverse student populations.
