POSITION

Assistant Professor of History. The School of History and Social Sciences at Louisiana Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to complement the faculty’s strength in U.S. history. Top priority will go to candidates with a strong research agenda in any field outside of North America, including Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and Eastern and Western Europe. Ph.D. in History by September 1, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic unit that prioritizes interdisciplinary teaching and research collaboration between the humanities and social sciences. The candidate would be expected to teach both on-campus and online versions of the World History survey, upper-level and graduate courses in the candidate’s general and specific fields, and a graduate historiography course. In addition to the History MA, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a new interdisciplinary graduate program focusing on media studies and technology. Therefore, we are particularly interested in applicants with research and teaching interests in one or more of the following subfields: media studies, digital humanities, science and technology, gender, race, environment, and public history. The normal teaching load is three courses per quarter. A strong commitment to exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level, scholarship/research activity, and good interpersonal and collegial skills are expected.

The School of History and Social Sciences offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science, History, and Sociology, a Master of Arts in History, as well as minors in Geography and Philosophy. The campus is located in Ruston, Louisiana, 70 miles east of Shreveport and 30 miles west of Monroe on Interstate 20.
