Louisiana Tech University invites applications for a full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Music, with a specialization in low brass and a secondary teaching area. This is a nine-month faculty position with an anticipated starting date of September 1, 2025. The person appointed to this position will teach applied euphonium, trombone, and tuba to all levels of students; teach methods courses in low brass, teach low brass pedagogy, and other topics matching the candidate’s interest and expertise; coach a brass ensemble; build relationships with area K-12 music educators and programs; and help to develop and lead recruiting and retention initiatives. Special consideration given to a candidate with a secondary teaching area of Music Industry Studies, which can include experience recording concerts, experience with a student-led radio station, or experience with podcasting. Other secondary teaching areas considered are music history, music appreciation, or music theory.

Qualifications:

 Candidates shall hold a performance doctorate in a low brass instrument or be ABD at the time of application. Candidates should be proficient to teach all low brass instruments, as well as experience performing in or coaching a brass ensemble. Teaching experience at the university level and previous work with athletic bands is preferred. Knowledge in Music Industry is a plus.
