Description:
The Department of Social, Behavioral, and Population Sciences at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine invites applications at the rank of tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor or tenured Associate Professor. We are interested in recruiting faculty with expertise in systems science or implementation science to improve the health of underserved and marginalized populations. Specifically, candidates who use implementation science frameworks and/or systems science thinking and modeling approaches to health equity research are especially encouraged to apply. This expertise will complement our department’s existing strengths in maternal and child health, violence, nutrition, social policy, structural racism, and social determinants of health. The faculty member in this position will contribute to online teaching, will primarily advise and mentor students, and lead and/or develop courses for our Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program and secondarily, the MPH program. The position start date would be Spring or Summer 2025 or can be negotiated. The successful applicant will demonstrate a positive trajectory toward extramural research funding (early career) and/or have an active program of research supported by extramural funding. Additionally, the successful applicant will contribute to the equity-oriented educational mission of the department by leveraging innovative methods to lead advanced graduate-level doctoral and/or masters-level courses and mentor and advise graduate students. Additionally, service to the university, profession, and community are expected. Review of applications will begin immediately. Qualifications:
PhD in social, behavioral, or population sciences, or related field is required. Evidence of expertise in implementation science or systems science, with demonstrated ability to apply these methods to health equity or population health challenges is preferred.
