Tulane University School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Medicine for the newly established school-wide C enter for Health Outcomes, Implementation and Community-Engaged Science (CHOICES) . With established community partners in the Gulf South, the Center is actively engaged in T3-T4 translational research focused on health outcomes, adherence behaviors, health equity, and dissemination and implementation research and conducts primarily federally-funded (e.g, NIH) clinical trials, observational studies, and secondary analyses of existing databases. The hire will join a newly established research center that is a high priority for the School of Medicine and the University. As a tenure track faculty member, the successful candidate will contribute to teaching and mentoring missions, develop and maintain active research programs and contribute to institutional and professional service. For physician candidates, there is an opportunity to participate in the growth and expansion of Tulane’s medical services in New Orleans. In the last 7 years, University Medical Center (UMC) has opened a 412-bed hospital and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) opened its new 200 bed hospital facility. Both the UMC and SLVHCS hospitals serve as key clinical practice sites for our faculty. Tulane boasts a top-ranked School of Public Health, actively productive research across multiple research centers, and is a major participating partner in the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Research Center, all located in immediate proximity to the downtown School of Medicine and our three affiliated hospitals. Qualifications:
The Department of Medicine would serve as the new hire’s home department. The rank will be Assistant or Associate Professor depending on qualifications. Applicants should possess one of the following degrees to support community-engaged health and behavioral outcomes research: (1) a doctorate from backgrounds related to health outcomes research (e.g, public health disciplines, epidemiology, sociology, health services research, health economics and others ; (2) a master’s in public health or its equivalent and a doctorate in medical/ social / behavioral science; or (3) a doctorate in medical/social/behavioral science with research in a health outcomes-related field. Experience working with groups that have been economically/socially marginalized and community/stakeholder engagement will be a plus. The selected candidate will work with the Center Director, Dr. Krousel-Wood in expanding the research portfolio on patient-centered health and behavioral outcomes research, health equity, and dissemination and implementation research. Eligible candidates should have excellent communication skills, time-management skills, and analytic and statistical programming skills.
