POSITION STATUS
Full-time, tenure track, MCCC/MTA unit position with benefits. The title of this position will be Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, depending on the selected candidate’s experience.
SALARY:
Minimum salary $52,880 – $70,103 – actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the
MCCC/MTA
Collective Bargaining Agreement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Full-Time Culinary Arts faculty position is responsible for teaching a full-time schedule of courses in the culinary arts and/or baking programs (Associate degrees and Certificates), including but not limited to those listed in our Academic Catalog. This role involves developing course materials for both lecture and laboratory classes, while providing student support through various interactions. The full-time instructor will play a critical role in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student learning outcomes and overall success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DETAILS AND DUTIES
Teach, and as appropriate, design culinary arts and/or baking course material to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
Maintain food safety and quality standards while teaching courses within the program.
Participate in program function and events, including but not limited to food preparation, event planning and student supervision.
Assess student learning and assign grades through equitable and inclusive pedagogies and assessment strategies.
Complete required training such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, and Information Security.
Teaching in face-to-face as well as hybrid, and online modalities.
Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including duties such as, but not limited to, developing curricula to address course and student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate, completing book orders, creating syllabi, verifying student enrollment, and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
Foster student success across the college’s diverse student body, and address equity gaps, through innovative teaching and learning approaches as well as curriculum development. Incorporate High-Impact Practices (HIPs) into curricular and pedagogical approaches, with emphasis on HIPs that provide students with real-world experiences such as Service-Learning and internship opportunities.
Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students.
Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.
Serve on college committees as elected or appointed.
Attend program, department, academic area, all-college and committee/council meetings.
Recommend suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions.
Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues, to teach online as needed, and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
Engage in professional development activities through participation in conferences, workshops, seminars, and professional associations to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom.
Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol’s core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.
Focus on the Commonwealth’s Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
Actively participate in the general college community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry, Food Service Management or related field.
Minimum of two years of work experience in a professional kitchen
Valid ServSafe Certification.
Proven technological proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Able to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Management, Hospitality, Business, Teaching or related field.
Demonstrated experience teaching culinary arts and/or baking and pastry courses.
Current ACF Certification.
Minimum of two years of leadership experience in a professional kitchen.
Experience in instruction, preferably in a Community College environment.
