Job Description
Elms College, located in Chicopee, MA, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders. This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Social Sciences Divisions in the School of Arts, Sciences and Professional Programs. This position will teach specialized classes required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in CSD program on-campus, and for the online SLPA degree programs and post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre- Speech Pathology. The faculty member is responsible for actively participating in all aspects of the community (teaching, scholarship, and service) in alignment with the faculty handbook and assists in the governance and organization of the program, including academic planning, curriculum development and review, student academic advising, and program enhancement. Required Qualifications Earned doctorate in communication sciences and disorders or relevant ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Successful college-level teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses, supervision of practicum training activities, interdisciplinary collaboration experience, and online instruction experience. Preferred Qualifications Expertise in one or more of the following content areas: child language acquisition/disorders, adult speech/language disorders, Demonstrated or potential to develop excellence in Current speech-language pathology license in Massachusetts or eligibility for licensure in the state. Record of scholarly work, including research with the potential for funding. Experience teaching and mentoring a diverse student body. Responsibilities Teaches (4) courses per semester across the
CSD/SLPA
curriculum, both on-campus and online. Academic advising of
CSD/SLPA
students Assist with initiatives to expand program enrollment, including the Early College program. Participates actively in CSD and Social Science committees, programs, admission events, and activities. Expands off-campus practicum sites and assists in the development and maintenance of experiential learning opportunities. Contributes to the evaluation of student academic achievement and other evaluative processes of the College. Faculty mentor to the student group NSSLHA Participate in service at the departmental, college, and professional levels. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the broader educational and professional communities, including community-based organizations.
