Description:

The Writing Department at Colby College has a one year opening for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Writing for the 2025-2026 year. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, WAC-based Writing Department and teach a five-course load of “W-1” first-year writing coursesf (three in fall and two in spring semester).

Qualifications:

Candidates must have demonstrated strength and experience teaching first-year writing at the college level; knowledge of composition/writing studies scholarships and pedagogies; experience and willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty in the department; and the ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse community. Ph.D. in Writing Studies or a related field (e.g., English, Composition/Rhetoric) is preferred, though candidates with releveant teaching experience and an M.F.A. in English or Creative Writing will also be considered. The position starts Fall 2025.
