Description Husson University’s College of Science and Humanities invites applications for a full time Assistant Professor position in Exercise Science to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. This listing is to meet the needs of a new and rapidly growing program, with approximately 100 students starting the program each year. Candidates should have interest in being part of developing an effective and meaningful program that successfully advances students to pursue graduate interests or professional placement.
This Exercise Science position will complement existing programmatic expertise among faculty in the Department of Science within the College of Science and Humanities, which also offers undergraduate degrees in Health Sciences, Biology (with concentrations available in Biochemistry and Environmental Science), and Pre- Medicine. This program is offered in 2-tracks and serves students in preparation of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program as well as a professional Exercise Science development track.
Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine. Examples of Duties The primary responsibilities associated with this position include teaching exercise science courses for undergraduate students as well as the ability to teach a variety of courses in including expertise in Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, and or Clinical Exercise Physiology and motor learning, and willing to participate in local outreach to support our exercise science sports testing institute. The successful candidate will also fulfill faculty expectations for teaching, advising, service, and scholarship as outlined in university policies. The position requires teaching 24 credits per academic year, with additional opportunities possible. A key additional need is advising exercise science graduates to pursue job placement with a BS degree and management of senior capstone experiences including research projects or internships.
The position involves service to the College, participation in admissions events, and interaction with the internal and external community in a collegial and professional manner at all times.

This is a face-to-face position; candidates are expected to be on campus.

Typical Qualifications Education and Experience:

The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Exercise Science or a related area and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidates should also have the ability and desire to develop and direct scholarly research to engage undergraduate students in the applied areas of exercise science.

Preferred qualifications:

Previous higher education teaching experience in the areas of strength and conditioning, exercise with special populations, nutrition, exercise physiology, motor behavior, human performance, exercise testing and measures, and exercise prescription.
