Position Function:
The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering (ABE) at Mississippi State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure track, 9-month, assistant professor position in biomedical/biosystems engineering. Applicants should be clearlymitted to excellence in teaching and be able to articulate a prospective research program that has promise for sustainable external funding and national recognition. Candidates with experience and expertise in all areas of biomedical and/or biosystems engineering will be considered, but strength in sensors, robotics in medicine, advanced prosthetics, and big data analytics (e.g. omics technologies and imaging informatics) are particularly desirable.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Candidates will be expected to teach in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Bio-systems Engineering (BSE) curricula, conduct research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Biomedical or Bio-systems Engineering or a closely related discipline, as well as excellent verbal and writing skills, are required. Applicants must have a strongmitment to teaching excellence, scholarly production, and grantsmanship and should have the ability to conduct multi-disciplinary collaborative research.
ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS): Yes
Preferred qualifications: Previous experience with instruction and course development. Previous experience with lower-level and upper-level courses. Previous experience with in-person and online courses. Previous experience writing research proposals and manuscripts.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Candidates should have skills and abilities in teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in a research environment.
