Summary of Job Duties:

This is a 9-month tenure-track 100% appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. The chosen candidate will be expected to have, or potential for, a nationally recognized research program and contribute to the teaching and service missions of the University. A focused teaching and research program related to apparel product development with a relevant understanding of current and future technology in 3D technology, CAD programs and 3D printing is desirable. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the industry software (e.g. Browswear, Digital Twin, Humanetics Body Scanning, and Photoshop and Illustrator). In addition, the successful applicant should have a focused and related research agenda. Responsibilities also include teaching undergraduate and graduate apparel product development courses, mentoring graduate and honors students, and academic advising.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in apparel merchandising or closely related field
Ability to develop and sustain scholarly work related to area of expertise
Experience teaching at an accredited institution of higher learning
Evidence of effective advising or mentoring undergraduate, honors and graduate students
Demonstrated written and verbal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

At least two years teaching experience at a higher education institution
Evidence of engaging, up-to-date course materials that reflect current industry trends, technologies and best practices
Demonstrated ability to effectively use software for apparel production (e.g. Browzwear, Digital Twin, 3D Body Scanning) or other emerging AI technologies
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage an extramurally funded research program
History of interdisciplinary training or collaborations with peers and colleagues in the apparel industry and professional organizations
Record of scholarship including publications and presentations of research at professional meetings
