Job Duties:
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, seeks an Endocrinologist to join our team at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, at the rank/title of Assistant, Associate, or Professor, with tenure track or fixed-term appointment. Duties include clinical care in areas of general endocrinology, diabetes, and lipid disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings; participating in clinical trials and/or primary clinical research; and teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. This position will also be expected to contribute to the Endocrinology Division’s scholarly research efforts. Research effort and productivity are a significant expectation of this position. This position has a partial endowment (the Dr. Mary K. Lawrence and Dr. Art Klose Distinguished Professorship) that provides funding for protected research effort time of approximately one day per week. Additional designated research time will depend on acquired specific funding for research effort. Strong clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills are required. The division offers a one-year Diabetes Fellowship Program for Primary Care Physicians, and a fully accredited two-year Endocrine Fellowship Program, with two fellows per year. Position available at the title/rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Professor or Professor. The number of years practicing and accomplishments varies for each rank/title. Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System ( TSERS ). Minimum Education/Experience:
MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of North Carolina. Board Certified or eligible for board certification by the ABIM for Endocrinology.

Internal Medicine is a department within the Division of Health Sciences and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Department of Internal Medicine is comprised of ten divisions with over 85 full-time faculty and 150 support staff members. Each of the divisions has its own specialty clinic. Internal Medicine is home to seven fellowships and two residency programs. In recent years collaboration and funding have come from many nationally recognized organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, Health Resources and Service Administration, American Heart Association, NC Department of Human Health and Human Service. More locally, we have partnered with East Carolina University Health Medical Center Foundation, Kate B.
