06/23/2025 Description The Department of Chemistry at St. Bonaventure University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry, beginning August 2025. Teaching responsibilities will include the Organic Chemistry sequences and possibly other courses matching the candidate’s expertise; average twelve (12) contact hours/semester. Other responsibilities include conducting research with undergraduate students, advising students, conducting institutional service, and maintaining professional growth and development. Examples of Duties A Ph.D. (or ABD) in Chemistry with a research focus on organometallic chemistry (broadly defined) is preferred, but a focus on organic chemistry will be considered. Submissions should include a cover letter that speaks to teaching and research, a CV, contact information for 3 references, and a statement of teaching philosophy. Review of applications will begin immediately and reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Typical Qualifications Candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, research, and University service. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college level. Prior research experience at a Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI) is also preferred. While this position is a 1-year contract, there is the potential for the position to be extended.
