Employer will assist with relocation costs. The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Theater History and Performance Studies. Ideally, the position will begin in fall 2025, but the department will consider applicants who are not available until spring 2026. There is a possibility of renewal for one or two additional years, contingent on department needs and successful teaching in the first year. Completion of a terminal degree (Ph.D. or D.F.A.) is required before or shortly after the date of hire. Please note that Colgate will not sponsor any visa or work authorization for this position. The field of specialization is open, and versatile candidates with the ability to cover a wide variety of historical periods and geographical areas in their teaching are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching assignment of five courses per year includes a two-semester course sequence in theater history, required of all theater majors, as well as the opportunity to teach one or more advanced courses in the candidate’s field(s) of specialization. The successful candidate may be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. Crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities.
