Job Description

The Opportunity/Position Description The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking applicants who are Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine to join our dynamic and accomplished Pediatric Hospital Medicine faculty within the Division of Critical Care, Hospital, and Palliative Medicine. We are recruiting a talented and enthusiastic academic hospitalist at the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is one of the nation’s foremost academic health science centers is aligned with one of the nation’s premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital to provide outstanding care to patients and communities. Our hospital provides care to a variety of complex and subspecialty patients with high acuity and also serves as the community hospital for Northern Manhattan and South Bronx. We are particularly interested in candidates with quality improvement training/experience and/or interest in clinical leadership. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Key Responsibilites T he selected candidate will provide high-quality inpatient care while playing an active role in teaching and mentoring medical students, pediatric residents, and pediatric hospital medicine fellows at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, a quaternary children’s hospital in Northern Manhattan. Our diverse team of hospitalists are engaged in clinical care, quality improvement, research, health equity, and education. All faculty are expected to develop and pursue an area of academic focus, such as clinical research, medical education, health systems science, quality and patient safety. Professional Experience/Qualification Must have an MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License Must be Board certified/Eligible in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine PHM Fellowship or advanced training is strongly preferred Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and teaching Strong interpersonal and communication skills A commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Pay Transparency Disclosure The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
