- Our adult inpatient psychiatry service at Stony Brook University is seeking a full-time psychiatrist who welcomes the challenge and satisfaction of providing inpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated multidisciplinary team of clinicians, educators and researchers.
The Clinical Assistant?
Professor of Psychiatry will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist on our 30-bed adult inpatient unit.? Responsibilities include direct patient care including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, testifying in court when needed, and teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows.
You will be providing direct psychiatric care to adult inpatients in a structured and supportive multidisciplinary environment. The position may include some weekend or evening coverage of psychiatric consultations. There are also opportunities for clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient treatment and in collaboration with other departments.

Schedule:
- We offer a 7 on, 7 off schedule with cross coverage as necessary including weekend/holiday coverage, totaling 80 hours every 2 weeks for the Adult Psychiatry unit. 7 consecutive days on, followed by 7 days off. This unique schedule allows for focused clinical care during your working weeks, and meaningful time off every other week.

Required Qualifications:
- ?MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry. Eligibility for New York State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of clinical experience in adult inpatient psychiatry. Track record of research and other scholarly activity.? Teaching experience in Psychiatry.
