Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry
Department of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences Position Overview:
Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy (PCSP) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Medicinal Chemistry. We are seeking an innovative and collaborative educator who is passionate about teaching andmitted to advancing scholarship within a supportive and collegial environment. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of faculty who are shaping the next generation of pharmacists through high-quality education.
Teaching Responsibilities:
Teach medicinal chemistry topics in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum and collaborate in team-taught courses.
Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered learning experiences that foster critical thinking and application of medicinal chemistry concepts.
Contribute to the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences coursework and PharmD elective courses as assigned by the department chair.
Scholarship Expectations:
Engage in scholarly activity that aligns with the mission of PCSP and advances the field of medicinal chemistry.
Contribute to the scientificmunity through research and publication.
Pursue research opportunities through the South Carolina IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (SC INBRE) and internal grants offered by the PCSP Office of Research for seed funding. Pursuit of external funding is also encouraged.
Mentor students in research projects and engage in collaborative scholarship with colleagues, as appropriate.
Service Responsibilities:
Actively participate in departmental, School, and Collegemittees.
Advise Doctor of Pharmacy students in their academic and professional development.
Represent Presbyterian College in professional or scientificanizations at local, regional, and/or national levels.
Engage with localmunities through professional service and outreach.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry or a closely related discipline is required.
A strongmitment to teaching excellence and student success.
Demonstrated ability to engage in scholarly activity.
Preference will be given to candidates with educational backgrounds in medicinal chemistry from a school or college of pharmacy.
Willingness to participate in professional development for teaching and scholarly growth.
