Job Description The Department of Mathematics at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Computer Science. The candidate must have earned a PhD in Computer Science or an appropriate related discipline. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position may include introductory computer science courses as well as courses on artificial intelligence, network security, and software engineering. The faculty member will have the primary responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service in support of the University, School, and Department missions. To ensure a smooth transition into our academic community, the successful candidate will participate in LMU’s New Faculty Academy. Additionally, during their first year, the new faculty member will enjoy moderated scholarship and service expectations while receiving guidance and support from a faculty mentor assigned by the department.
Required Qualifications earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or appropriate related discipline; •educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and •evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity.

Job Duty assist department chair in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Long-Range Strategic Plan and Outcomes Assessment Plan for the assigned program/department
Job Duty support and promote the university s SEWS and Transparent Instruction programs (as applicable) within the curriculum
Job Duty assist the department chair with necessary department, school or university reports/schedules as requested
Job Duty demonstrate current knowledge of discipline content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested
Job Duty appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught
Job Duty develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student
Job Duty submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by a predetermined deadline
Job Duty evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline
Job Duty requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair
Job Duty assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested
Job Duty participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major
Job Duty establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University
Job Duty submit to department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university, school and department councils or committees
Job Duty effectively advise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee
Job Duty explore career goals with each assigned advisee
Job Duty mentor majors through the research process
Job Duty fulfill the university s scholarship expectation through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement
Job Duty participate in events that support the institution, the faculty, staff and students
Job Duty participate in commencement exercises
