Tennessee State University College of Engineering Department of Applied and Industrial Technologies invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor in Aviation & Technology Education with Fall 2025 starting date. We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our team and take a leading role in educational designs, survey data collection, data analysis, and the implementation of outcome assessment in aviation management, aviation safety, technology education, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, machine learning-related computer science research projects. The teaching load is expected to be 12 credit hours per semester. Courses to be taught may include aviation safety, management, human factors, statistical quality control, technical writing, and related studies in aeronautical technology and education.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in Education Administration and Supervision, Computer Science, Aviation Technology, or a related field.
  • Rank of Assistant/Associate Professor or higher with a focus on Aviation & Technology education research and/or CS research experience.
  • Strong background in research planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Three years of experience in research administration, preferably in higher education settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong data analysis and report writing abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of obtaining and managing major fundings.
  • Working experience in a diverse workforce is desirable.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
  • This position will primarily focus on leading research and educational design initiatives in Aviation & Technology education.
  • The incumbent will work closely with the Departmental Chair of Industrial & Applied Technology, contributing to the facilitation of departmental wide research initiative.
  • Candidate will be expected to use innovative teaching methods, including the use of computer-aided instruction to support student learning and career objectives.

He/she will provide lectures and laboratory instruction in subjects within the discipline of aeronautical technology and aviation science. Candidate will also participate in an effective advisory committee composed of industry, government and other appropriate positions; identify equipment needs of the department and advise students on their curricula; develop and offer distance learning courses; maintain necessary attendance, scholastic and personnel records; post and maintain office hours; participate in committees and departmental meetings; and participate in curriculum development and other needs as they occur.
