Advertised Salary Pay Basis Job Description The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering of Tennessee State University is in the process of hiring one Assistant Professor position in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental Engineering. The Civil Engineering Department includes faculty and instruction in the fields of structural, geotechnical, transportation, environmental, water resources and construction. The Department has mining engineering minor and construction management minor. The Department seeks candidates capable of contributing to the undergraduate and graduate academic programs and demonstrates a commitment to excellence in research. The successful candidate will assist in 1) developing and leading projects in mining engineering, geotechnical and geoenvironmental area, 2) conducting research on innovative construction and building materials, criterial minerals, and geotechnical infrastructure 3) preparing and contributing to technical reports/publications/presentations, 4) contributing to, or directing the preparation, presentation, and follow-up of proposals, and 5) managing the research group and the lab.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical/Geo-environmental engineering, mining engineering, or closely related discipline. Candidate must be qualified to conduct research in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering, mining engineering. Applicants should also have at least one year of academic or industrial experience, and PE licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate should have a solid academic background and experience in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure materials, critical minerals, geotechnical engineering, geoenvironmental engineering, rock, mining engineering. The candidate must be self-motivated, autonomous, and work efficiently with a strong work ethic and a good team spirit. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
