Job Description Tennessee State University College of Agriculture invites applications for the position of
Youth Development Program Leader/ Assistant/Associate Professor of Agricultural Education. This position is a 12-month, tenure track faculty position beginning July 2025. Responsibilities for the position include the following:
- Lead/coordinate Youth Development programs for TSU (4-H, FFA, Junior MANRRS)
- Establish and coordinate new Junior MANRRS chapters in Tennessee
- Work closely with TSU and University of Tennessee Extension administrators, 4-H agents and volunteers on 4-H program planning, development, implementation, and reporting
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate professional development programs for specialists, agents, youth, farmers, and related constituents in artificial intelligence and related technologies
- Collaborate with AgEd faculty on educator trainings and lab management in the agricultural mechanics shop that includes automation and fabrication equipment
- Develop, teach, and recruit for courses and programs in agricultural artificial intelligence, and advise undergraduate and graduate students in the discipline
- Advise undergraduate/graduate students in agricultural artificial intelligence research
- Develop and supervise agricultural artificial intelligence internships
- Develop a program of scholarly contribution through extramural funding, publications in appropriate peer-reviewed journals and presentations at regional & national conferences
- Participate in service activities in the state and the department, college, and university level Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in Agricultural Education, Youth Leadership Development, or closely related field with strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Agricultural Technology; All But Dissertation (ABD) applications accepted.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in Extension Education and youth development organizations (i.e. 4-H, FFA, MANRRS)
- Demonstrated expertise with AI and related technologies and its applications in agricultural education/extension
- Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex AI concepts to extension constituents, youth, and college students from diverse backgrounds
- Strong record of research and publications in top-tier journals, showcasing expertise in AI and its applications in agricultural education and the agriculture sector
- Demonstrated ability to secure and manage external grant funding related to AI and AgEd Special Instructions to Applicants Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.
