Description
The Department of Mathematics at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2025. Preference will be given to applicants with research interests in Analysis, Data Science/Quantum Science, or Optimization. Exceptional candidates in other areas will also be considered. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field by August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will possess an excellent record of teaching, a strong record or outstanding potential to conduct high-level and impactful research, and a commitment to service at the department and university levels.
The Department of Mathematics offers the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with concentrations in Actuarial Science, General Mathematics, and STEM Education; the Master of Science in Mathematics with concentrations in Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Pre-Professional Mathematics, and Education; and the Doctor of Philosophy in Computational Science with a concentration in Computational and Applied Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics or statistics and to mentor students including at the Ph.D. level.
