The Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, College of Health, Education and Professional Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position in nutrition and dietetics beginning August 2025.
The Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position requires a balance of research, teaching, and service. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in nutrition and dietetics whose primary responsibility will be teaching in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
Information about the Program
The Master of Public Health program has two concentrations: a concentration in Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (
MPH:
CD) and a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics (
MPH:
ND). Both MPH concentrations are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
The MPH:
ND is also accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The MPH program is a campus-based program with courses offered in both online and hybrid modalities. The MPH program is designed to develop leaders in public health who are qualified to address health-related needs at individual and community levels to improve health outcomes.
Essential Duties:
Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses as needed. Anticipated faculty’s primary teaching responsibility will include Nutrition Assessment, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Clinical Nutrition, and/or Food Systems Management within the
MPH:
ND. The teaching instruction will include a variety of modalities (online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face) in accordance with program and departmental needs.
Work collaboratively with
MPH Program Director, MPH:
ND Program Coordinator, and program faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards are met.
Advise and mentor students enrolled in the MPH program.
Maintain a record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and pursue external and/or internal grant funding.
Provide services to the university, professional organizations, or the community as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will meet the following requirements:
An earned doctoral degree in a health-related field (individuals who are all, but dissertation [ABD] will be considered; however, the degree must be awarded prior to start date).
Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Clinical or professional experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
Evidence of conducting and disseminating health-related research such as peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across all levels of the university.
Preferred:
Work or research experience in clinical nutrition, food service, or dietetics field.
College or university-level teaching experience, with preference at the graduate-level in nutrition and dietetics.
Familiarity with a variety of instructional modalities, including online and hybrid instruction.
