Job Purpose
Teach courses, develop and perform research, recruit and advise graduate students and fulfill service mission for the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions:

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical or aerospace engineering, engage in scholarly activities, develop externally funded research programs, advise undergraduate students, direct research students at the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. levels, serve on committees, engage in professional and public service. We are seeking qualified candidates in all areas of mechanical and aerospace engineering, with particular interest in the following areas:
Energy/Thermal Systems and Experimental Thermal-Fluid Sciences area. Renewable Energy, Energy Storage and Nuclear Energy, Data/AI-driven design.
Intelligent and Autonomous Systems for Aerial and/or Space Vehicles, Flight Dynamics and Control, Electric Propulsion, and AI/ML-driven Design Optimization of Advanced Aerostructures.
Other cutting-edge research areas supporting the mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department and College of Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a closely related field by the start date of employment. The ability to perform the essential functions. The ability to communicate effectively and to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with faculty, students, administrators, staff and public.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the doctorate degree, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited institution. Prior teaching and or post-doc experience.

Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2025.
Benefits Information
Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational . Deferred income and over 12 months.
