Dean of Students Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Dean of Students will oversee student academic progress, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment, developing and implementing school policies, and addressing student behavioral issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide data to administration and Student Support Team (SST) weekly to monitor school and student progress Conduct bullying investigations Process Educator Handbook referrals Collaborate with the school community to ensure a safe and healthy school climate and culture Proactively engage with students to promote strong social-emotional relationships Implement and model Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports with students and adults Re-engage students in the classroom learning environment to ensure minimal time lost on learning Assist in the selection, development, and implementation of programs and practices that develop student social and emotional learning and cultural competence Implement and model Restorative Justice practices Serve as a liaison to community organizations to support student wellness
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain visibility throughout the school Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Skills:
Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Culturally competent Familiarity with the current research pertaining to adolescent behavior Proficiently skilled at managing and de-escalating high-stress situations
Required Qualifications:
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
Certification:
