Job Description:
To assist the Financial Aid Director (FAD) with the planning, organization and administration of federal, state and institutional financial aid programs for college students including grants, scholarships and student employment. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will assist in overseeing the work of the Financial Aid Counselors involving the processing of students aid applications to determine eligibility for financial aid and the maintenance of computerized records. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for execution of daily/weekly/monthly workflows, managing the impact on the student experience and serving and a critical source of leadership for the Financial Aid Department. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will also serve as a secondary subject expert on financial aid policies and procedures for the RCC community.

Objectives:
Supervises a team of three (3) financial aid Counselors Responsible for the retrieval of ISIR records and for the submissions of ISIR updates and corrections Resolves ISIR rejects Assists the FAD in the creation of awarding paradigms that maximize federal/state/institutional funding sources Monitors SAP reports from Advising/Registrar and coordinates the internal review of aid eligibility at the end of each semester Coordinates the review process of financial aid appeals Performs R2T4 calculations for students who withdraw from classes before the 60% point of each semester and adjusts aid packages accordingly Originates and disburses Title IV funds (Pell, SEOG) across the ED Connect/Powerfaids/Jenzabar platforms Reviews the census report after add/drop to:to update financial aid enrollment records, make necessary aid adjustments based on enrollment status and sends revised award letters to students as needed Reviews reports from Finance detailing student owing balances as well as potential refunds to ensure aid packages do not exceed billable charges unless otherwise directed Documents all changes and notes to a student’s award cycle within the Powerfaids platform Coordinates constant communication cadences to students based on enrollment and retention goals Assists the Financial Aid Counselors in monitoring and allocation of the annual campus-based student employment budget Keeps abreast of all financial aid policies and procedures at the state and federal levels Assists the FAD in annual parm roll within Powerfaids Obtains and reviews transfer monitoring and Pell overpayment reports Provides guidance and coaching to the Financial Aid team as needed Assists in the creation of targeted student communication campaigns and programming Other duties assigned by the FAD as needed Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities, research statistics and compiles data for interdepartmental reporting Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and compliance of financial aid records

Job Requirements:
5-7 years of direct Financial Aid experience in progressively responsible roles Bachelor’s degree in finance, education, or related field Ability to interpret federal/state laws and apply best practices to ensure enrollment growth and retention Desire and willingness to engage as a team player across all levels within and external to the RCC campus community Displays a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
