The Student Affairs department seeks a Director of Residence Life to provide leadership and direction for the Office of Residence Life (ORL), and support an academically-oriented environment while maintaining living conditions which promote student growth and personal development. Departmental Leadership (70%)
Responsible for daily operations of the Office of Residence Life (ORL) and overall management of residential buildings, housing 960 students; in halls both on MCPHS’ campus and shared with Colleges of the Fenway (COF) institutions
Serve as the lead administrator of The Housing Director- Adirondack housing management software and lead all housing operational efforts for the department including housing placement, room selection, occupancy reporting, room changes, communication with shared buildings
Coordinate planning, assessment, and evaluation of ORL programs, policies, procedures, and services to create and recommend a program that continues to enhance the residential experience and establish an equitable environment
Oversee all residence hall opening and closing procedures in conjunction with campus and COF partners to ensure a smooth and welcoming process for students and families
Partner with the Office of Admission on new student housing assignments and collaborate on communication and move-in efforts
Work closely with the Office of Access and Accommodation (OSAA) on residential accommodations
Coordinate informational efforts regarding Off Campus Housing including workshops, portal management, and communication
Oversee and manage residence life budgets and take the lead in developing the annual operating budgets and proposing capital requests by presenting the necessary research
Develop strong working relationships with University and COF departments including Facilities and Public Safety to ensure community safety and facility concerns are addressed appropriately
Work in collaboration with the ORL on Worcester’s campus in coordinating housing efforts, timelines, and operational platform management
Case Management for Students of Concern (15%)
Serve as an active member of the student CARE Team with a caseload of students in crisis for the Boston campus providing support, solutions, and/or referrals
Meet with students and provide support, solutions, and/or referrals as appropriate and serve as liaison to family members of students when appropriate.
Promote advocacy and maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for all students
Administrative Leadership (15%)
Serve as direct supervisor for the Area Coordinators within Residence Life
Alongside the Assistant Dean of Students (Boston), work with key University stakeholders regarding housing supply and demand
Assist the Office of Residence Life in training Resident Assistants on incident reports
Participate in Administrator On-Call Duty Rotation (including weekends, after hours, break periods and holidays)
Serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs and attend and support training and professional development opportunities, and University wide programs like Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, Commencement and New Student Orientation.
Serve as department representative on University-wide and COF committees
Other duties as assigned

Requirements Required:

Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field
Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in Student Affairs
Minimum 5-7 years’ experience with Residence Life or equivalent, as well as direct experience with housing operations
Experience in student conduct, mediation, and crisis management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external community members.
Require an understanding of the educational, cultural and social needs of a domestic and international student community
Demonstrate the ability to work individually and as a member of a professional team, establishing strong working relationships across campus constituencies
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to manage confidential materials and maintain confidentiality when working on specific task or projects
A sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and resources appropriately

Preferred:

Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adirondack, Maxient and Salesforce
General understanding of FERPA and HIPPA
Familiarity with the complexities of international student transitional needs

Physical Requirements:

Ability to be mobile between buildings and office area
Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during schedule work hours.
Work requires the ability to travel to other campuses when needed
