Education Programs Manager Animal Welfare Association 509 Centennial Boulevard, Voorhees, NJ 08043

Objective:

At AWA we believe strongly that one of the major ways to prevent future animal homelessness is through education today. The Education Programs Manager will play a major role in helping us to fulfill this goal through developing new programs and curriculum, establishing partnerships and managing the Education team. Crucial to this role are the willingness and ability to envision and implement the expansion of AWA’s impact in new and unique ways.

Essential Functions:
Education Department Operations:
  • Manages Education Program offerings to ensure the execution and delivery of AWA approved curriculum and compliance with program objectives.
  • Develops new programs and establishes new partnerships to further AWA’s mission and the goals of the Education department
  • Manages existing partnerships to ensure goals of both the partner and AWA are successfully implemented
  • Manages the ordering of all supplies needed for programs
  • Creates department budget and ensures all revenue goals are met and all operating expenses are not exceeded
  • Maintain and update computerized database, communication tools, forms, and documents to track program metrics to share with supporters and for grants
  • Completes grant requests as assigned and ensures all grant requirements are fulfilled within the appropriate timeframe
  • Draft documents for inclusion in AWA publications
  • Ensures excellent customer engagement in all Education programs
  • Ensures Education programs are marketed in a timely, efficient and appropriate manner, working with members of the Development team to accomplish this as needed
  • Ensures all Education program materials follow AWA brand standards
  • Manage the internship program including recruitment and placement
Employee Management:
  • The following are the direct reports of the Education Programs Manager – Education Coordinator, Education Facilitators, Camp Counselors
  • Ensure proper staffing levels, create and maintain effective department schedule
  • Oversees interviewing and hiring process for all Education positions
  • Ensure that staff and volunteers are trained, motivated, evaluated, and oriented
  • Provide constant performance feedback, including formal introductory and yearly reviews
  • Ensure employees and volunteers follow all organizational procedures and policies
  • Deliver counseling for employee misconduct and/or violations with appropriate resolution
  • Teach and develop employees to ensure growth
  • Identify and suggest professional development as appropriate
  • Fill-in for employee roles as needed and necessary for department operations
  • Work closely with other departments and attend regular meetings to discuss collaborations and fundraising opportunities Cross-departmental functions:
  • Act as a mentor and leader within the organization promoting a healthy and positive work culture for all staff
  • Work closely with Volunteer Coordinator to manage volunteers assisting with Education programs as well as assist in the development of training for AWA volunteers as needed
  • Collaborate with Development team on promotional, educational or fundraising activities
  • Collaborate with Development team on AWA’s marketing, public relations, and community engagement initiatives
  • Works with management team to ensure areas of program overlap are going smoothly which includes, but is not limited to: shared spaces, staff requests for Education Department program participation and student/guest interaction with space and staff
Position Requirements:
  • A dynamic individual with a willingness to suggest new ideas and programming to further the mission of the AWA and Education
  • Must be willing and available to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed for program coverage

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with Humane Education in a nonprofit setting preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required
  • Knowledge of basic computer software experience required
Physical Factors:
  • Work performed throughout the AWA facilities. This will require exposure to animals and requires animal handling.
  • Peanut butter used throughout facility.
  • Long periods of sitting, standing, leading groups in discussion/public speaking, computer and telephone work, bending, stooping, reaching, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions may be required.
  • Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, high noise levels, wet surfaces, hazardous chemicals, and sharp objects
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions:
  • A varying schedule, including times, days, evenings, and weekends is required to ensure coverage of programs, activities, and events.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$48,000.00 – $52,000.00 per year
