Job Description
Admissions Director –
Full Time Summary:
Direct and coordinate facility admissions program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Establish department objectives; monitor/evaluate operations for quality and effectiveness. + Develop and implement department policies and procedures that ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, ensure superior quality of care, and adhere to Lutheran Care Center’s Mission, Values, and Standards. + Act as a liaison between Lutheran Care Center, hospital discharge planners, case managers, and community; network with key referral sources to target appropriate referrals. + Screen potential admissions (includes speaking with referral source and/or family/designated representative and facilitating admission or communication of reason for denial). + Verify insurance and other payment source for all prospective residents for all services rendered, including room, board, transportation, medication, medical specialists, etc. + Receive and review PRI’s for prospective long-term and sub-acute candidates seeking SNF admissions. + Complete admission agreements with new admits. + Complete notification of transfer letters with bed hold phone call. + Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations. + Manage facility census at 158 adv. through accurate census tracking/bed hold information. Collaborates with other department heads to maximize case mix and reimbursement. Communicates all admission information to management and interdisciplinary team. + Perform facility tours as needed. + Represent facility at industry and community events as needed. + Other duties may be assigned as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise staff assigned to the Admissions Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, delegating, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education, Training, Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of BA/BS, will consider exceptionally strong candidates with AA/AS and 5-10 years of relevant experience. + Previous supervisory experience is required. + Must have in-depth knowledge of and experience with insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. + Nursing background a plus + Marketing background a plus. + Multilingual a plus.
Required Skills/Abilities:
+ Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service communication skills. + Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. + Excellent organizational and time management skills; proven ability to meet deadlines. + Strong supervisory and leadership skills. + Experience with PCC, AllScripts, or related programs. + Proficiency in MS Office, specifically spreadsheets, word processing, and contact management software.
