Community Education & Volunteer Coordinator Putnam/Northern Westchester Womens Resource Center Mahopac, NY 10541

Position Available:

Community Educator & Volunteer Coordinator The Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center strives to support the healing of victims of violence through advocacy, education, case management, shelter and counseling services. The Community Education & Volunteer Coordinator works as part of a team to organize, develop, and facilitate community-based prevention education, events, workshops and trainings to individuals of all ages. In addition, the Community Education & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the oversight, coordination and execution of the WRC volunteer program. Ultimately working as a member of the agency’s team providing comprehensive services and support to all victims of violence; ensuring that all services protect the rights of victims, are client driven and confidential. Lastly, the assists the fundraising event team as assigned.

Responsibilities :

Creates and maintains relationships with assigned grant liaisons, community-based programs, schools, colleges and other agencies Organizes, develops and facilitates developmentally appropriate curricula for the anti-violence prevention programs Schedules and facilitates presentations, trainings, classes, workshops and groups that address anti-violence issues including domestic violence, sexual assault, bullying, stalking, internet and texting safety, dating violence and human trafficking. Collaborates with other PNWWRC staff to provide community outreach and public relations regarding programs, events and fundraising Maintains and updated the agency website and social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) Assists the team in fundraising event preparations and executions including oversite of the Holiday Room and gift card drive winter events. Manages drop off donations and maintains the donation and storage rooms Recruits, trains, and supervises PNWWRC volunteers Assists in facilitating the curriculum based 40-hour mandated training for all volunteers and assigned staff as needed Completes monthly/quarterly/yearly reports and statistical data as required by the programs and grants, and maintains accurate record-keeping in compliance with all licensing and contract agencies Supports the mission of the agency Skills and Education requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Required, plus 1 year experience.

Experience:

Community presentation: 1 year (Required) Event experience and public speaking experience a plus. Working knowledge and use of Canva and Photoshop a plus. A working knowledge of current events relevant to healthy relationship/ anti-violence prevention education, including dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, consent, sexual assault and sexual harassment Ability to create and facilitate curricula across various platforms, including, but not limited to, Zoom, social media, live and recorded webinars as well as, in person workshops and presentations Advocate for social justice and gender equality with a strong commitment to ending violence Ability to work collaboratively and successfully with teams and co-workers as well as, community members and other organizations Strong communication, organizational, scheduling and time management skills, a critical and strategic thinker with effective planning and implementation skills Experience in recruiting or working with volunteers a plus The Community Educator & Volunteer Coordinator position is a grant-funded, full-time (35 hours), non-exempt position. This role, at times, requires a flexible schedule and travel within Putnam and Westchester Counties to schools and community-based organizations.
