This position leads the planning, coordination, and assessment of educational and social programming that supports more than 800 students across four cohorts. The Coordinator also manages communication strategies, collaborates with campus and community partners, and supports outreach and engagement efforts with students and families to ensure a strong foundation of support in the early years of the collegiate experience. Job Description The UT Success Academy Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing transition, engagement, and belonging efforts for students within the UT Success Academy. This position leads the planning, coordination, and assessment of educational and social programming that supports more than 800 students across four cohorts. The Coordinator also manages communication strategies, collaborates with campus and community partners, and supports outreach and engagement efforts with students and families to ensure a strong foundation of support in the early years of the collegiate experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and assess educational and social programs that align with the UT Success Academy’s mission of promoting transition, belonging, and student success. Lead all aspects of event planning and execution, including scheduling, space reservations, catering coordination, and day-of logistics for programs such as UTSA Summer Welcome, Fall Kick-Off Week, and Family Weekend. Supervise a team of 5 Student Engagement & Operations Assistants (student interns), providing training, assigning responsibilities, and offering guidance to ensure high-quality support for events and daily operations. Creating internal communications and marketing for UTSA programs, including weekly newsletters, digital signage, social media coordination, and content development for print and digital materials. Develop desired strengths-based learning outcomes, determine layout and decorations, and create communication plans for UT Success Academy programs; Facilitate student engagement and communication by overseeing outreach to scholars through announcements, email updates, and social media campaigns. Collect and analyze student participation data, program feedback, and event attendance records to support program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts. Secure and negotiate fees with vendors/speakers, manage venue reservation processes, and build and manage annual programming budgets Collaborate with UTSA student staff and professional team members to maintain organized, welcoming, and functional Academy spaces and ensure efficient daily operations.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Oversee safety procedures and compliance for large-scale events. Create promotional content and marketing materials for workshops, programs, and events. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of departmental services and initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
Serve on the UT Success Academy advisory board. Represent UTSA in departmental and divisional meetings and professional development. Liaise with campus offices to support program delivery and scholar success. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status
Experience:
One year of relevant experience in a college environment (part-time work will be considered at half-time).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience supporting first-generation students and students from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences Knowledge of issues related to student success, retention, and first-year transition Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with campus and community partners to foster collaboration Proficient in presentation, outreach, and interpersonal communication Effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated sensitivity and awareness in supporting the varied needs and experiences of students Commitment to understanding and responding to the needs of a broad and evolving student population
Preferred Qualifications Education:
Master’s Degree in
Higher Education, Leadership, Student Affairs Experience:
Direct experience supporting first-generation college students and those from a broad range of educational and life experiences.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Demonstrated experience in student engagement, event coordination, workshop facilitation, or a related area within higher education. Proficiency in using assessment practices and data analysis to inform planning and improve program outcomes.
