The Department of Communication Studies at Emerson College is looking to fill one section of Argument and Advocacy (CC 263), and one section of Research Methods and Practice (CC645, graduate) for the Fall 2025 semester, September 3-December 16, 2025. CC263 Argument and Advocacy Wednesday, 6-9:45PM This course explores the principles of argumentation and advocacy, with the goal of training students to persuasively present and defend positions on various issues. The course examines the disciplines of debate and advocacy, aiming for students to leave with the ability to construct and deconstruct arguments using critical thinking and effective communication skills. Topics include the development of logical frameworks, highlighting logical fallacies, deep dives into various forms of support/evidence and participation in debates on current political and legal issues. CC305 Communication Research Methods

45PM This course introduces students to the importance of social scientific methods for researching communication phenomena. Throughout the course, students will be taught how to identify issues worthy of research, and students will be instructed to both critically evaluate the research of others as well as conducting their own studies. A variety of research methodologies including critical, rhetorical, quantitative, and qualitative are covered.
