Position Summary:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Manhattan University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position, specializing in Electrical Engineering. We seek passionate and dynamic educators who are committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education and who are qualified to teach a broad range of foundational and advanced electrical and computer engineering courses. This is an exciting time to join the Department that has expanded into new engineering facilities and is planning additional renovations in the coming year. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Department awards B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Both of the B.S. degree programs are accredited by the EAC of ABET. The Electrical Engineering B.S. offers concentrations in the following areas Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Power Grids and Green Energy Engineering and the Computer Engineering B.S. offers concentrations in the following areas Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity. Both the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering M.S. programs offer concentrations in the following areas Applied Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity. The undergraduate classes are only offered in person, while the graduate level classes can be taken in person or online.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected:

Teach courses in areas such as Signal and Systems, Control Systems, Electrical Systems, Communication, Digital Systems, Instrumentation Systems, Power Systems and Operations.

Teaching responsibilities include course development, curriculum planning, as well as classroom and laboratory instruction.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to student advising, mentoring, and university, school and departmental service.

Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.

Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and academic programs.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master’s degree in electrical and/or computer engineering, or a closely related field, with significant full-time industry experience. A Ph.D. degree is preferred (with or without industry experience). A candidate with a Master’s degree will be eligible to be hired at the rank of Visiting instructor, while a candidate with a Ph.D. will be hired at a Visiting Assistant Professor rank.

Demonstrate expertise in the subject areas listed above.

A strong commitment to high quality teaching and student learning.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior teaching experience at the university level.

Experience with laboratory instruction and course development.

Industry experience is required for candidates with an M.S. degree and a plus for candidates with a Ph.D.
