Job Description

Director of the BLET Program – Basic Law Enforcement Training 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars Dublin, NC Description Directors are full-time faculty and have the responsibility to assist in program growth and serve as resources to the faculty. This position is responsible for faculty supervision and evaluation, safeguarding program quality and integrity, student learning assessment, and recruiting assistance. This position serves as the lead instructor of the BLET program and is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and college-level instruction within the program. Examples of Duties Teaching Design and implement learner-centered lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles. Integrate current technology into classroom, online, and lab-based instruction as appropriate. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a diverse student population. Prepare and distribute instructional materials, including syllabi, supplementary content, and multimedia resources. Develop and document student learning assessments aligned with course and program outcomes. Professional Development Maintain professional credentials and stay current in the field through ongoing professional development activities. Continuously improve instructional strategies by participating in training and growth opportunities. Administration Maintain compliance with state code, laws, rules, and regulations as they pertain to law enforcement training. Collaborate with program directors to update existing curriculum and develop new courses that remain current and relevant. Contribute to the development, assessment, and review of course and program outcomes. Ensure the safe and secure use of instructional spaces and materials. Maintain accurate student records (grades, attendance, etc.) using platforms like Colleague, Watermark, and Moodle. Adhere to all applicable college, state, and federal regulations and policies. Student Support Promote student retention and success by guiding students in developing effective academic strategies. Participate in student recruitment activities. Refer students to appropriate campus and community resources as needed. Utilize AVISO/Watermark and other tools to monitor and enhance student engagement and success.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may supervise work-study students, part-time staff, and/or faculty. Experience Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field. Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, or related field. Current General Instructor certification by the North Carolina Department of Justice, Training, and Standards Division. Good standing with the North Carolina Law Enforcement Training and Standards Commission. Valid NC Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience teaching in a BLET program. School Director Certification or the ability to earn certification within 2 months of employment. Community college teaching experience, particularly in traditional, hybrid, and online formats. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and governmental regulations. Strong written communication skills for preparing reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, faculty, students, and the public. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee primarily works indoors and outdoors and frequently uses video display terminals. The work environment typically has a moderate to loud noise level. Evening and weekend hours may be required to support instructional needs or college-related activities.

Physical Demands:

The employee must be able to occasionally stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. The position may require occasional lifting or carrying of instructional materials and equipment up to 40 pounds.
