Position Overview Primary Purpose of the Position The Department of History, Politics, and Social Justice at Winston-Salem State University invites internal applications for lecturer of Justice Studies faculty beginning August 2025. The position calls for an individual with expertise who can teach Introduction to Justice Studies, Forensics Science, Criminology, and Criminal Investigation courses. The department seeks exceptional candidates with a strong commitment to: undergraduate teaching excellence, advising, mentoring undergraduate research, interdisciplinary teaching and research collaborations, engagement with the broader public, and service to the community. The Department of History, Politics, and Social Justice offers courses across four cognizant which include Military Science. Mentor and advise students through the completion of their degree. Masters Degree or PhD in Justice Studies, Criminal Justice/Criminology, Forensic Science, or a related field by the time of appointment. They must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational environment. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Greater than 5 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (forensics science, cyber-crime/security; emergency management, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.) Greater than 2 years of teaching and/or industry training experience in criminal justice topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars Teaching/training experience in a post-secondary institution.
