OF WORK
This position will serve as a County Case Worker III providing Mental Health Co-Responder services while embedded with a local police department. The Co-Responder will receive direct supervision from the County Base Service Unit (BSU) Director and report to both the BSU Director and the chief of the local police department or their designee. A Co-Responder in this crucial role will have the ability to function independently and decisively and will be able to maintain confidentiality in high pressure situations. This position responds with police officers w a social services response is more appropriate than a law enforcement response. This position requires knowledge of both normal and abnormal human behavior and development and diagnostic and assessment skills. Key to this position is the ability to effectively interact with individuals receiving or in need of services, their families and other professionals in themunity as well as knowledge of the criminal justice system. ly, both oral and writtenmunication skills including clinical terminology is essential. The Co-Responder is expected to exercise good judgment in the performance of all duties.

Work Schedule and Information:

Full-time Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a County Caseworker 2; or
A bachelor’s degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and three years of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency; or
Any equivalentbination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Finger clearance.
