The Specialist will play a vital role in advancing the Division’s mission and the University’s strategic plan by supporting faculty in the development of robust, innovative, experiential, and student-centered digital courses and materials that align with the University’s standards of excellence. The Specialist will also provide students enrolled in online programs with holistic support for a meaningful learning experience.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, creative, and tech-savvy course designer who can effectively work with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple projects at once. Outstanding organizational and communication skills are a must. Of equal importance are expertise in visual communication, digitalmedia, and project management, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Design, develop and revise online courses via digital resources such as soft, hardware, data,multimedia, videoconferencing, and collaboration tools. All course materials are produced with the Canvas learning management system and instructional materials must be ADA compliant. Identify software applications, hardware, and other technologies necessary to produce media rich online courses Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to design online learning activities using existing courses learning objectives, materials, and instructor/textbook content Direct and create multimedia elements for online learning modules Develop technical documentation for online course development Conduct quality control checks of online courses Provide faculty support, training, and mentoring to faculty developing online courses, using industry standards and course authoring tools Participate in managing the institutions’ review process of new online courses Match online students with academic and wrap around supports to improve the learning experience Communicate regularly with students in online programs by phone and email to provide success coaching Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., instructional design, educational technology, curriculum and development, design) and three years relevant experience or a Master’s degree in a related discipline; effective communications skills; ability to contribute to a small team; proficiency in streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types and formats; working knowledge and understanding of media products for use in online courses, including video, audio podcasts, and graphics; working knowledge of instructional design theory and best practices; expertise with authoring tools, media production hardware, and applications; dexterity with best practices in accessible course design; prior experience developing courses within a learning management system; and demonstrated aptitude for team-based project management are required.
