Job Description

EL Instructional Specialist Tallapoosa County Schools Dadeville, AL EL Instructional Specialist Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution. Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations. Experience working with EL students preferred, but not required.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

Coaches and supports teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing quality instruction for ELs. Plans, models, teaches and co-teaches effective lessons. Regularly visits classroom to provide support to students and feedback to teachers to improve instructional planning, delivery, and assessment, including planning for ongoing monitoring and support for the successful language acquisition. Assists in analyzing ACCESS for ELs, and other assessment data to identify areas for improvement, establish goals, and monitor improvement. Develops and conducts professional development for teachers and administrators regarding instructional strategies and best practices for ELs. Coordinates and facilitates teacher activities and the sharing of successful lessons to ensure the successful implementation of the program. Meets regularly with EL Instructional Supervisor regarding classroom practices and ongoing feedback. Participates in ongoing professional development by attending workshops, lectures, and institutes on specific subjects to enhance job performance such as knowledge in language acquisition, literacy development, coaching skills, and adult learning theory. Keeps abreast of all federal and state EL guidelines. Assist in EL program presentations, professional development sessions, state assessments, IELP meetings and trainings as needed. Maintains detailed documentation of support provided to schools. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.
