Eagle Academy is a specialized program within Enfield Public Schools designed to meet the unique needs of students requiring intensive special education services. The program emphasizes individualized instruction, therapeutic support, and a collaborative approach to student success.
Position Summary
Enfield Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve the Eagle Academy school community. This individual will oversee all aspects of the program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and implementing best practices in specialized special education programming.
Required Certifications
CT DOE Comprehensive Special Education, PreK-12 (165)
CT DOE Intermediate Administration or Supervision (092)
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight of Eagle Academy’s specialized programming.
Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Supervise and support special education staff, including teachers, behavior technicians, and related service providers.
Collaborate with district administrators, families, and community partners to support student success.
Develop and monitor individualized education programs (PPT/IEPs) and ensure fidelity of implementation.
Oversee program budgets, staffing, and professional development.
Utilize data to inform instruction, programming, and continuous improvement.
Best Practices for a SPED Supervisor
IDEA Compliance:
Ensure timely and accurate IEP development and implementation.
Facilitate appropriate evaluations and re-evaluations.
Maintain procedural safeguards and ensure parent participation.
Monitor Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) placements.
Specialized Programming:
Implement evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions.
Foster trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
Promote inclusive practices and transition planning.
Use data-driven decision-making to individualize supports.
Provide ongoing professional development in specialized instructional strategies.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Build strong relationships with families and community agencies.
Lead with empathy, equity, and a student-centered mindset.
Support staff through coaching, mentoring, and evaluation.
Advocate for resources and policies that enhance student outcomes.
