JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Psychiatry is looking to hire an Education/Training Specialist II to provide training, education and technical support for the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. This position works to increase awareness and use of evidence-based practices for supporting children and adults with autism and related disabilities.
About This Role:
Community Outreach
Provide support and assistance to families and individuals with autism and related disabilities. Provide collaborative consultation to schools and agencies serving individuals with autism and related disabilities.
Provide public education programs for community members to promote community awareness and acceptance of persons with autism and related disabilities.
Collaborate with community resources and agencies (e.g., Vocational Rehabilitation, Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities) to connect families with services needed.
Enter consultation notes and report on activities in a timely manner and maintain all required records within the shared database and document management system. Development Develop, arrange, and conduct professional learning (PL) programs as required by CARD grant and Florida statute.
Collect required data on PL content, location, attendees, and follow-up for quarterly grant reports to the Florida Department of Education.
Develop Pl materials for community members, educators, and families. Collaborate with faculty and staff at the UF College of Medicine, other UF colleges, and other institutions of higher education supporting individuals with autism and related disabilities within the
UFG CARD
catchment area.
EXPECTED SALARY
$50,000 – $60,000 ; commensurate with education and experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED
Experience and/or education in working with individuals who have autism and/or multiple disabilities, including sensory disabilities (hearing, vision or deaf-blind)
Experience working with families
Experience and/or training in adult services
Experience and/or training in the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education settings
Experience with individuals with disabilities who exhibit challenging behavior
Bilingual English and Spanish
