The MDT Facilitator convenes and guides a comprehensive process to share critical information with stakeholders to make important decision for children and families. The facilitator will utilize a trauma-sensitive, strength-based approach to engaging families, youth and stakeholders in the staffing process.

The facilitator is expected to:

Coordinate and facilitate multidisciplinary staffing’s in person or remotely and send notifications to all participants who are required to attend. Mediate disagreement during MDT staffing’s to ensure effective communication between participating individuals by using conflict resolution and collaborative problem solving to ensure that the child and family remain the primary focus of each MDT staffing. Provide notification to the courts through Children’s Legal Services and DCF Regional staff within 48 hours after the conclusion of the staffing when a unanimous consensus could not be reached and prepare written reports, within 5 business days, for the courts outlining the outcome of being unable to reach consensus. Develop written reports for the courts that outline the overall decisions of the multidisciplinary staffing’s and the feedback of each individual participant. Maintain an organized tracking system to account for multidisciplinary staffing’s and confirm participation of required attendees and document the outcome of multidisciplinary staffing’s in the Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) System Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with organizations and other agencies involved with child welfare. Review Florida Statutes, DCF Operational Procedures, Administrative Rule and policies. Ensure participants are aware of confidentiality and HIPAA, and identify potential problems related to case specifics. Qualifications Bachelors degree required- Masters degree preferred Current or previous Child Welfare Certification from the Florida Certification Board Three years of Child Welfare experience. Mastery of trauma sensitive, strength-based approaches such as motivational interviewing and family engagement strategies. Ability to solicit and empower youth voice and perspective. Able to comprehend, collect and analyze data before and during facilitation regarding child safety factors and recognizing risk to children. Understanding of the impact of bonding and attachment during critical developmental periods. Has skills in managing highly emotional or conflictual situations without becoming central to the process Can articulate his or her role and stay within that role Has organizational skills, including multitasking and the ability to prioritize, follow through and deal with logistical details
