Responsibilities Job Summary:
The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for developing effective training content and learning experiences that support the coronary and peripheral vascular intervention sales teams globally. This role focuses on designing instructional materials that improve field readiness, support new product introductions, and strengthen sales capabilities. The Senior Instructional Designer collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to transform complex clinical and commercial information into engaging, accurate, and scalable learning solutions aligned with business needs.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop training materials in various formats (eLearning, virtual, instructor-led, video) that support product, clinical, and sales training objectives.
Translate subject matter expertise into effective learning content that is accessible, engaging, and aligned with instructional best practices.
Support training programs for product launches and capability development, ensuring alignment with field readiness goals.
Manage small- to mid-sized instructional design projects with minimal oversight.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and global stakeholders (e.g., marketing, clinical, regional training teams) to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
Support content localization efforts by preparing materials for translation and regional adaptation.
Identify knowledge and skill gaps across global sales teams and distributor networks by analyzing performance data and stakeholder feedback; recommend instructional solutions as needed.
Ensure compliance with brand, regulatory, and quality standards in all training materials.
Gather and apply learner feedback and performance metrics to continuously improve training content and delivery.
Maintain and update existing content libraries to reflect evolving product and market needs.
Qualifications Requirements, Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years of experience in instructional design, with at least 2 years in field sales training within the medical device, biotech, or healthcare industry. Direct experience with or understanding of interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular, or endovascular procedures is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, communications, or related field. Combined education and experience will be considered.
Willingness to travel up to 20% to support global field training initiatives, product rollouts, and customer-facing events.
Preferred Qualifications Expected Areas of Competencies:
Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE), with the ability to apply them effectively to training solutions.
Proficient in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate), video editing tools, and learning management systems (e.g., Cornerstone Learning, Allego).
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
Able to manage multiple instructional design projects under moderate supervision, while adapting to changing priorities in a matrixed team environment.
Working knowledge of sales force roles and commercial training models; able to support content development for direct and distributor field teams.
Interest in clinical education and ability to translate complex medical content into clear, accessible learning materials for sales audiences.
General familiarity with healthcare customer environments, including hospital systems, catheterization labs, and outpatient vascular centers.
