2024-2025The Instructional Specialist will provide targeted supportbased on identified needs of school-based coaches and teachers.

These differentiated supports will foster the growth anddevelopment of teachers for optimal implementation of the FloridaStandards, assessments, and effective instructional strategies,including but not limited to the integration of technology with apersonalized learning environment. In addition, the InstructionalSpecialist will design and deliver individualized professionallearning to support coaches and teachers that develop skills incritical areas such as establishing a positive school and classroomculture, delivering a content-rich and rigorous curriculum,analysis of student work, differentiating instruction, andsupporting English Language learners and students with specialneeds.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIESThe InstructionalSpecialist shall carry out the performance responsibilities listedbelow: Collaborate with school-based coaches, teachers, andadministration to analyze and interpret data, use data forimprovements and progress monitoring, and problem solving to informhigh-quality instruction leading to improved studentachievement. Model innovative coaching and teaching methodologies andresearch-based, effective instructional practices. Assist coaches and teachers in making connections between statestandards and the currently adopted instructional framework. Evaluate mathematics curricular needs based on student andteacher data. Assist coaches in designing formative assessments, includingproviding guidance on conducting non-evaluative, reflectiveconversations with teachers using evidence of classroom practiceand student learning. Maintain and submit required documentation, including but notlimited to coaching logs, data analysis for coach and teacherdevelopment, and a calendar reflecting support activities andscheduled meetings. Establish and maintain a trusting, confidential, andnon-evaluative relationship with coaches and teachers. Support coaches and teachers with mathematics-relatedcurriculum, pedagogy, digital applications, tools, strategies, andclassroom-related technologies. Provide input in the development and implementation of thecurricular and accountability goals associated with the SchoolImprovement Plan (SIP). Promote collegiality through collaborative work and reflectivepractices with teachers, coaches, and administrators. Engage and deliver monthly content-related professionallearning. Design, facilitate, and deliver research-based professionallearning for coaches, school staff, and administration. Participate in ongoing professional learning to enhanceindividual skills and proficiency related to jobresponsibilities. Demonstrate high standards of honesty, integrity, flexibility,and responsiveness. Handle information in a confidential manner in accordance withestablished policies and legal requirements (FERPA, HIPAA,etc.). Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equalemployment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board ofBroward County, Florida. Participate in training programs offered to enhance individualskills and proficiency related to job responsibilities. Review current developments, literature, and technical sourcesof information related to job responsibilities. Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. Follow federal and state, as well as School Boardpolicies. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor ordesignee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution inan educational field and a valid Florida Teacher’s Certificate in afield related to the subject in the title (K-6 elementaryeducation, and/or mathematics, reading or science). Minimum five (5) years of teaching experience in subject areaand/or level within the last eight (8) years. Complete Broward County Public Schools’ Instructional CoachDevelopment and Credentialing Program within two (2) years ofassignment. Experience with integrating technology tools, strategies, andresources into mathematics programs. Progressively more responsible professional educationalexperience with at least two (2) years of experience as aschool-based academic coach, district/state level coach,instructional facilitator, peer reviewer, and/or teacher leadershipposition. Strong interpersonal and communication skills as they relate toinstructional practice and working with teachers. Ability to establish and maintain a trustful and confidentialrelationship with adults. Ability to design, present, and facilitate adult learningexperiences, professional learning communities, and standards-basedinstruction. Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution in aneducational field and a valid Florida Teacher’s Certificate in K-6elementary education, and/or secondary mathematics. Minimum three (3) years of related teaching experience insubject area and/or level within the last five (5) years. Bilingual skills.
