Position Summary Responsible for teaching, training, and developing clinical research team members. Prepares clinical trial and research team members to be safe, efficient, and competent in the performance of their duties by providing general and specialty specific education. Responsible for overseeing the continuing professional development process for multiple clinical trial disciplines according to federal, state, and local laws and standards to be inalignment with organizational strategy and goals.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Develops and implements training programs for clinical research team members. Ensures all training materials and programs adhere to regulatory standards. Conducts workshops and seminars on the latest clinical research methodologies and practices. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements. Enhances clinical, regulatory, data, and laboratory competence of team members by utilizing an Education Action Plan and semi-annual Needs Assessment. Develops and coordinates the orientation process for assigned areas, meets with orientees, preceptors, and members of regulatory, data, clinical, laboratory, and nursing leadership teams. Actively participates in quality and safety initiatives to ensure team members are improving practice so quality and safety standards are met. Collaborates with corporate research and clinical trial leaders to assess ongoing competence of clinical team members. Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates role specific programs to maintain or increase the skill and knowledge of team members. Ensures adult learning principles are integrated into all programs. Facilitates and supports team member involvement in professional and organizational activities. Maintains proficiency in assigned role by participating in research and clinical trial direct practice Demonstrates professional accountability by involvement in professional organizations Provides input for the evaluation of all clinical trial team members. Facilitates professional development of team members through utilization of educational courses Assesses and provides education to maintain ongoing knowledge and compliance of organizational, regulatory policies, andprocedures. Utilizes evidence based, quality clinical trial practices across scopes consistent with research, organizational, and national practice standards. Completes OnCore, eRegulatory and EPIC documentation intermediate class and maintains competency in EMR and CTMS systems. Participates in formal education presentations, e.g. core specialty courses, corporate-sponsored education programs, or guest lecturing for academic courses. Develops and facilitates test questions for semi-annual competency testing, utilizing test constructions principles, and assembles core specific tests. Serves as a preceptor for core specific learning specialist. Participates in core-specific or corporate committees and/or educational initiatives that influence organizational outcomes. Participates in professional development opportunities that increases his/her effectiveness in the role. Creates opportunities to develop critical thinking and critical reasoning skills for all team members. Provides development programs for preceptor growth. Utilizes critical thinking and knowledge assessments to plan orientation Demonstrates knowledge of research process, clinical process; interprets and uses evidence-based practice guidelines in addressing learning needs (including FDA, GCP and ICH guidelines). Responsible for overall staff performance, evaluation, ensure corrective measures and/or training where needed including one-on-one training sessions as necessary. Education/Training Must hold a bachelor’s degree in at least one work related area such as Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Policy or Health, Health Sciences Research, life sciences, business administration, organizational development, or systems architecture Experience in clinical trial or related field may be substituted for degree Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software, preferably Microsoft Office-based products, OnCore and e-regulatory systems.
Licensure/Certification Required:
CCRC/CCRP
Certification (Certified Research Coordinator) by the Association of Research Professionals or SOCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates).
Preferred:
Licensed nurse; Certification in training (e.g. Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) Experience Minimum five (5) years of clinical trial and research experience involving human subjects in such areas as health services research, translational research, clinical trials, and/or other related research areas. Proven experience as a Clinical Trial and Research Trainer or similar role. Experience developing and implementing training programs.
